Notice of Parish Council Election

There will be an election for Swalcliffe Parish Council on 7th May 2026.  The current four year terms comes to an end on 11th May 2026. There are seven seats on the council.

1. Nomination papers may be obtained by downloading and printing a copy from
https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/guidance-candidates-and-agents-local-government
elections-england/nominations/completing-your-nomination-papers/nomination-form , emailing
election2026@cherwell-dc.gov.uk or by telephoning 01295 221534. Paper copies may be
obtained from the Returning Officer at Cherwell District Council, 39 Castle Quay, Banbury,
OX16 5FD, Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) 9am – 5pm.
2. Nomination papers must be delivered in person to the Returning Officer at Cherwell District
Council, 39 Castle Quay, Banbury, OX16 5FD on any day after the date of this notice, on
Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) 10am to 4pm but no later than 4pm on Thursday 9
April 2026. Appointments can be made by email or telephone – election2026@cherwell
dc.gov.uk or 01295 221534
3. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 7 May 2026.
4. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on
Monday 20 April 2026. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
5. New applications, amendments or cancellations of existing postal votes, amendments or
cancellations of proxy votes and amendments or cancellations of existing postal proxy votes
arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Cherwell District Council, 39
Castle Quay, Banbury, OX16 5FD by 5pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026 if they are to be effective
for this election. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
6. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this
election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2026.

7. New applications to vote by proxy at this election, except for emergencies, must reach the

8. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration
Officer at 39 Castle Quay, Banbury, OX16 5FD by 5pm on Thursday 7 May 2026
